    Arkansas Officiating Camp

     

    Our annual officiating camp in Little Rock, AR will be held from Wednesday, April 5 – Sunday, April 9, 2017.  The camp will include 4 nights stay so that video review can begin first thing on Thursday morning.  This year’s camp will again include two college campuses: Univ. of Central Arkansas and Univ. of Arkansas Pine Bluff.  There is a possibility other campuses will be added. The camp is open to all officials but on-field spots will most likely be limited to 48 officials (6 crews) by position.  The registration fee of $1,500 includes all camp fees, room/tax, meals, and meeting instructional videos (basically covers everything except your transportation to and from the camp).  The UCA and UAPB football teams will be used for all live on-field work.

     

    New for 2017:  Because so many officials have requested we offer attendance spots for officials not selected to work on-field, we will this year offer a limited number of spots for officials to attend the camp but not work on-field.  They will participate in all classroom video sessions and will attend all scrimmages and games, as well as have access to all training videos both from the camp and from our video library made available to all CFO West officials.  The registration fee for classroom participants will be $1,200.  While we would certainly like to offer more opportunities each year for more officials, availability of teams and other limitations make it difficult; in addition, we want this camp to be smaller to allow for more individual instruction.  Fortunately there are now many very good camps and clinics available to officials who are serious about improving their abilities and performance, many of which we also attend and participate.  Our hope is that even officials who are not selected to attend this camp will take advantage of those continuing education opportunities so that collectively all of us can work toward the common goal of IMPROVED OFFICIATING.

     

    We will begin accepting registration forms for the 2017 Arkansas Camp on May 30, 2016.  To register, go to www.footballofficiating.com, click on the “Clinics” tab or see the link on the Home page, find the camp you want to attend, and click on “download registration form”.  Complete the form for the camp you want to attend and submit to Tracy Hunt at the Big 12 Conference office by email only (complete form, save and send as attachment).  Be sure to attach a digital photo in the appropriate box.  New of 2017, there will be a place for you to indicate that if not selected to work on field, you would like to attend as a classroom only participant.  Please indicate your preference(s) on the registration form.  DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY WITH THIS INITIAL REGISTRATION FORM.  WE WILL NOTIFY YOU IF SELECTED WHEN YOU NEED TO SEND IN THE INITIAL DEPOSIT TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT AT THE CAMP.

     

    As registrations are received, officials will be selected based upon position indications on your registration form. Another factor we will consider will be to try to open spots for officials who requested to attend last year but spots were full; these first spots to those officials will allow more officials to experience this camp.  This also allows persons new to officiating to have an opportunity at the formal instruction our camp provides to develop good mechanics.  You will be notified if you are selected, after which you will have seven (7) days to submit your non-refundable deposit fee of $500 payable to Football Officiating.  If your deposit fee is not received within that time, we will offer that space to the next official on the waiting list.  You will receive an email confirmation when your deposit fee is received.  Spots are filled over time, so just because you may not hear anything within the first few weeks of registering, that does not mean you will not be selected to attend.  Also, Tracy keeps a “waiting list” and even after spots are filled, cancellations do occur and we then go to that waiting list to fill any vacancies.

     

    The second installment payment of $500 will be due no later than November 30, 2016 with the third and final installment payment of $500 ($200 for classroom participants) due no later than February 28, 2017. No refunds of the second or third installments will be made after January 1, 2017; attendees are encouraged to purchase event cancellation insurance to protect their non-refundable camp costs.  We will accept payment by credit card or check made payable to “Football Officiating”.  If paying by check, send payment to Walt Anderson, Football Officiating, 5 Palm Meadows Ct., Sugar Land, TX 77479.

     

    Room accommodations for four nights will be provided as part of the registration fee at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 201 S. Shackleford, Little Rock, AR 72211 (501) 223-3000.  The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the Little Rock airport.  Meals will be provided beginning with breakfast on Thursday and concluding with breakfast on Sunday.  Rooms will be assigned double occupancy and you can list a preferred roommate on your registration.     Room accommodations for additional nights are the responsibility of each official and reservations need to be made separately through the hotel.

    Friday, 9:00 AM – Video breakdown of Thursday practices by position.

    Friday, 12:00 noon – Lunch.  Hotel

    Friday, 2:00 – 6:00 – Video breakdown of Thursday practices by position.

    Friday, 6:00 PM – Dinner.  Hotel

     

    Saturday, 8:00 AM – Breakfast.  Hotel.

    Saturday, 9:00 AM – Buses depart for team scrimmage

    Saturday, 12:00 PM – Lunch.  Hotel

    Saturday, 1:00 PM – Buses depart for spring game

    Saturday, 6:30 PM – Dinner and Video Review.

     

    Sunday, 7:00 AM – Breakfast.  Hotel.

    Sunday, 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Video Review.

    Sunday, 11:00 AM – Camp Ends.
